My little takeaway from Game Over.

"My mom didn't let me play video games growing up, so now I do. Gaming gives me a chance to just let go, blow somebody up and fight somebody from another dimension. It's all escapism.
                                                                                               ~   Wayne Brady

FIRST HALF:

a) Swapna jogs and comes home. Now she has a dark past which she hasn't gotten over. Yet. She sits down to eat and tells her maid, there is no salt in the food.

b) We go through her room, with déjà vu and gaming posters.

We are shown she gets nightmares of her horrible past and scared of darkness.

c) Tattoo happens. It hurts. Later she gets to know about the tattoo ink and the concerned person from the tattooist.

She decides to remove it with laser, gets appointment with a dermatologist. All hell breaks loose for Swapna, considering the trauma she already is in.

d) One fine day, the mother of the girl's ash which was used to ink her steps in. Tells her about how she her head was chopped and body burned. This goes deep.
e) Finally she comes in terms with what has happened, and accepts reality.

SECOND HALF:

There is no second half. There is no second half movie. The first half is the film. Second half is just a game.

Explanation:

a)     Remember I told you, when she sat to eat, she complained there was no salt in her food. After knowing about the story of the murdered girl from her mother, she calls the dermatologist and cancels the appointment to remove her tattoo, and when she says that her maid smiles, and throws in salt in the cooking pan. Salt was used to denote that life has turned from bad to good. In reality, salt brings balance to the taste of the food.

b)      The intermission card says, ‘Game On.' Pretty clear second half is going to be a game.

c)      One tattoo becomes three, which are the number of lives. There are three psychopaths. She keeps playing Pac Man which has three lives.

d)    In the first half, when she is in a session with her psychiatrist, she says she’s developing a game and getting good ideas.

e)      At the end of first half, she comes in terms with reality and rises above darkness. Then she develops a horror thriller game which happens in indoors. She combines her past trauma which happens in a confined room with how Amudha was murdered into a game.

f)       With déjà vu poster on the wall, we get the idea she is interested and believes in déjà vu. She implements this as well in the game. The climax was about overcoming the monster with past experiences.

g)      On the overall perspective, the film is about a second chance. We all strive for a second chance. Swapna gets her second chance in her life. We see it in the game as well.

After all, life is a just a game.

"Gaming has been a great way to get to know people. That's part of what I love about games, that they are social."
